When planning a deck in Auckland, consider orientation (north-facing decks get the most sun in New Zealand), shelter from prevailing winds (a pergola or louvred roof can help), privacy from neighbours, connection to indoor living areas for a seamless flow, drainage underneath the deck to prevent moisture issues, and lighting for evening use.
