“Over 30+ years I've purchased numerous items from Ann & her team at Hutchinsons interiors and during that time, carpet 4 times from Hutchinsons. Twice for my businesses from Brian & twice for homes from Nathan/Hamish. NEVER EVER AGAIN. On my initial approach about a problem with the carpet I said to the woman who deigned to get out from behind her protective counter to serve me that "I never ever expected to be making this type of visit to you" but something is wrong with my carpet. I showed her the photographs. Oh that's Carpet Beetle said she in a mildy derogatory fashion. I'd never heard of carpet beetle. She told me i mus have a damp house & that they came from under the floor when it was damp. WRONG!! in so many ways & insulting - my house is anything but damp. She also had no idea how to treat carpet beetle - but worked in the carpet department. She suggested I try my insurance company as my installation was probably out of Warranty. I went to photograph the still available carpet, and as quick as a flash she said "oh, oh, dont photograph the sale price, we dont give insurance companies sale price." Clearly failing to understand that this attitude directly impacted us all through the premiums we pay. Durrrr There ensued 3/4 days of backward & forward regarding the validity of warranties - bit of a long story, huge floods, family death, Cyclone Gabrielle & so forth, but I won't bore the reader - finishing with Martin saying that, on behalf of Cavalier Bremworth, the carpet would not be replaced. His final sentence to me bring "So when would you like us to come & measure for the replacement." Said without a hint of irony. I declined his "kind" offer. Carpet is being fully replaced under my insurance cover & Huchinsons are not & will never get my business again. I could say more but dear reader you get the picture.”

“Disgusting customer service, inquired about furniture we had seen advertised online. Immediate response...oh thats very expensive...straight away we felt judged not well off enough to purchase from them...the rest of our interaction went along the lines of, we don't stock it here... I wanted to view before purchase...oh you can go to Auckland to see it...you know where Auckland is?? End of any chance of Hutchinsons get a single $1 off me let along the amount I was willing to pay.”
