“My first review ever written for anywhere but after having a very frustrated with herself and upset daughter who was dealing with this company, I was compelled to (and asked if she was okay with me doing this). She is a young, solo first home owner and I'm bloody proud of her, so I can't stand seeing her in tears or anyone else's kids - even when they are grown ups! The electrical issue (it was checking a fault of constant flickering lights in different rooms which turned out to be due to a power surge) itself was resolved, however the communication and invoicing were disappointing. Cost was surprising (just shy of $300) and a mighty shock to her since the words from the electrician were that she just needed 2 light bulbs (one which she provided) - I listened to how embarrassed and stupid she felt for calling an electrician for that, her Mum and I did say she wasn't to know and did the right thing getting it checked out as it could have been a major and dangerous fault, but the feeling was understandable. A wonky light switch was replaced after the electrician asked “do you want me to quickly fix that?” with no indication of cost, which made it sound minor. It later turned out to be the most expensive part of the job and was only clear once the invoice arrived. Should my daughter have asked for a quote first? Yes, and I delicately told her this since she was already upset about 'getting it wrong' and the embarrassment of the light bulb situation, but the wording she said made it sound quick and easy. The invoice was sent nine days after the work was completed and had to be queried, after which a $28 credit was applied. Less than 24 hours later (prior to 9am today), she then received a 'friendly reminder' with a large “OVERDUE” stamped across it, despite the invoice having just been issued for the first time and then corrected yesterday afternoon. The cost in the email was also different to the cost listed on the invoice. She had not received an invoice with the updated figure until this was sent this morning and she paid it immediately (then I told her to email back that she wasn't happy so she can speak up for herself). The work itself was fine, extremely timely with being able to get to the house, but clearer communication around costs and better coordination between invoicing and reminders would significantly improve the customer experience (and help other dads out there when they tell their daughter that they are doing the right thing by addressing issues in their house).”
