“Our roof was done by Roofing the Bay Ltd ( RTB ). We are now facing substantial remedial repairs to correct the seriously substandard job RTB did. RTB is the business vehicle of Neville Johns, and on the face of it, has been trading for 19 years. But, in fact , while Neville Johns has been the operator all this time , and the company name RTB has been used all this time, the company itself has been wound-up , and a new company given the same name. So why would you go to all that trouble and expense ? .......... well, to an unscrupulous tradie, it has a very nice outcome of enabling the operator ( Mr Johns ) to avoid all the past warrantees , and therefore not be held to account for the substandard work they have done. In our case, as soon as Johns realised that the roofing job his business had done, was clearly of shockingly poor workmanship, he disengaged and sent a letter advising that he would rely on the protection of a Limited company, and would not , in any way, honour the warranty given by RTB. My experience speaks for itself. Do not assume that RTB will do an adequate job, or that Neville Johns will stand by his work. My experience is that he will not.”
